Highlights from Frieze, New York

by Maria Guerrero, Founder of Women in the Arts, Inc.

Early in May, Frieze, the annual international contemporary art fair, returned to a beautiful and perfect spring weather in Chelsea, embracing a vibrant art scene full of exhibitions, openings, and art parties.

The fair took place at The Shed on The High Line, an incredible mobile venue (and no, it wasn't moving then). Galleries, focus galleries (under twelve years old), and programming spread across three levels with a cafe, shop, and selected international charity: Gallery Climate Coalition set on the top levels.

it was reassuring to see prominent women-owned and women-led galleries owning the main floor alongside other established gallerists. This is the art I was fascinated to “discover” as I weaved in and out of the galleries.
